A popular saying from the Delta meaning “to know the context in which an action or person takes place. It is used to convey that someone knows how to move within a context. Panyo refers to cloth, which implied knowing the type of fabric one was working with”

THE NEW CANAL VELL VIEWPOINT

The new Canal Vell viewpoint not only wants to find its place in this bucolic landscape, it also wants to become part of it. Although by definition a viewpoint breaks with the strongly marked horizontality of the place, it seeks on the one hand to blend in by echoing the directionalities so present in the surroundings, and on the other to dissolve into the unparalleled sunsets. A light element that wants to be there, yet is not. A proposal that seeks to establish new languages of the landscape, but without imposing itself.

The longitudinal nature of the viewpoint allows the future visitor's ascent to be understood as an experience and a discovery of the history of this iconic landscape, making it possible not only to enjoy the summit but, through walking, to gradually discover the different symbolic elements that make up the landscape. These hints will be marked by a change in the paving and a slight opening in the envelope, revealing the different structural elements of the landscape described in the previous chapters. The openings will be accompanied by information panels incorporated into the railing and directional paving, didactically complementing what the visitor is observing.

From the highest point it will be possible to see the different historical strata that make up this territory: farming, property boundaries, the course of the water and the regression of the Delta, understanding the future that awaits it and becoming aware of why it is so important to respect it.

The construction of the viewpoint will also generate a new space for tourists, a point to head for within the territory.
