Throughout life, the needs a home must meet are not always the same. For this reason, a home that is flexible to changing circumstances should be a priority condition, rather than one that adapts very well to a single moment in time. Can David is an example of this condition.
The current house consists of two floors with two independent dwellings connected by an interior staircase. Despite being located in a very central spot of the city of Vic, the building has a garden on three of its sides and is surrounded by greenery.
The modification involves the segregation of the two floors, removing the interior staircase and gaining a dressing room in each dwelling. The current home has only one large bathroom, raised a step above the rest of the building, and an impractical dressing room with very wide wardrobes, as well as an L-shaped kitchen which the clients do not make use of. The proposal converts the dressing room and bathroom into two bathrooms at the same level as the rest of the home, more practical and up to date. An additional room is gained by dividing the kitchen and, so that it does not end up as a small, elongated room, it is joined with the hallway, becoming the heart of the house.
The proposal uses materials in neutral, luminous tones that will age well over time. And the project fits within a tight budget, as no services needed to be relocated.
