Located in the beautiful municipality of Sant Julià de Vilatorta, at the foot of the Guilleries natural area, we find the detached house Aigües-fora. In a setting where nature plays such an important role, a commitment to the environment was unavoidable. For this reason the construction is proposed in timber.

Timber is a renewable, organic, ecological and sustainable resource, offering a quick-assembly construction that saves time, is highly durable and, being an insulating material, guarantees complete airtightness, reducing the energy consumed in heating and cooling the home throughout its useful life. In addition to all these benefits, the construction system is resolved with a pitched gable roof, preventing unwanted water ingress while generating quality living spaces in which timber, as the protagonist, creates a warm atmosphere.

The programme is organised on a single floor, responding to the completely flat topography of the original plot. With the premise of optimising space as much as possible and avoiding areas devoted solely to circulation, the fireplace organises and at the same time separates the different activity zones. The house presents the maximum number of openings facing south-east in order to minimise the unwanted heat gains and losses typical of north-west orientations.
